HOW WE WORK
Clarity comes
with responsibility.
Our editorial approach is to explain the evidence and its limits in language buyers can use.
Sources come first
We favour original public authorities for official procedures, and a provider’s own documentation for its products. Relevant links appear in each guide. We distinguish a public information service from a commercial data licence.
No invented authority
We do not invent customer reviews, test results, expert biographies, partnerships or guarantees. Current guides are credited to CarReport.ie as an organisation. No named automotive expert has reviewed them unless a future article expressly identifies that person and their contribution.
Clear about what a tool does
A format decoder is labelled as a format decoder. A calculation is labelled as a calculation. A sample report contains fictional values and is visibly marked as a sample. None is passed off as a live search.
Practical advice and uncertainty
We explain how to investigate a concern rather than declaring a particular car safe or unsafe from an incomplete record. Legal, tax and technical questions should be checked against current original guidance and, where needed, with an appropriate professional.
Updates and corrections
Dates represent actual publication or substantive review, rather than an automatic daily refresh. We intend to review official-process guides when relevant rules change and to check commercial comparisons before publication. At this stage, the business contact channel still needs to be finalised before public launch.
Commercial interests
CarReport.ie intends to earn revenue from licensed history reports or agreed referral relationships. Neither is active yet. If a future link earns commission, that relationship will be disclosed near the link. Editorial coverage is not a promise of completeness or an endorsement by the organisations cited.
