Irish decoder, converter and checklist

The Irish registration decoder and mileage converter calculate results in your browser. Checklist ticks and notes stay in page memory and disappear on reload. These tools do not search a vehicle database. With JavaScript enabled, registration navigation uses a URL fragment, which is not included in the normal page request; without JavaScript, a submitted registration can appear in a URL query and hosting logs.

UK MOT lookups

When you request a UK MOT check, we send the registration to our server and the official DVSA MOT History API. Opening a UK lookup link containing a registration also requests that lookup. The response contains vehicle details and available MOT results, readings, defects and recall information. The tool does not return owner names, contact details or VINs.

A bounded temporary server-memory cache holds up to 100 results. A result can be reused for five minutes; entries are replaced as the cache fills or cleared when the server process stops. We do not create a permanent customer lookup database from this tool. MOT responses carry no-store headers. Registrations may remain in your browser history and in copies you choose to keep.

Hosting and service providers

Cloudflare hosts and protects this website. It processes technical information such as your IP address, request URL and headers to deliver the pages and protect the service. For UK MOT checks, DVSA processes the submitted registration; authentication is handled server-side through Microsoft Entra. We do not include your email address or browser IP address in the DVSA lookup payload.

Our business mailbox is hosted by SiteGround. If you email us, SiteGround processes your address, message and attachments. These providers may process information outside Ireland or the EEA. Purposes, legal basis and retention

We process lookup and technical information to provide the service you request, keep it reliable and prevent misuse. Our basis is our legitimate interest in operating and protecting a free vehicle-information website. We use correspondence to answer enquiries and resolve corrections or complaints. We review correspondence when an enquiry closes and remove it when no longer needed, unless a legal obligation or unresolved issue requires retention. We do not sell your contact information or use these requests for unsolicited marketing.

Your choices and rights

You can choose not to submit a registration or send an email. Depending on the circumstances, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of personal information, or object to processing based on legitimate interests.
